Turret of Solana

Historic context

This tower is integrated into the defensive mechanism created around the Castle of Moclín.

Description

Cylindrical tower with plant of 4.6 m. diameter. It has a bulge in its central part as an entasis, conserving a height of 5.5 m. Built with medium ashlar masonry on a leveling platform. In its exterior remains of the exterior elfoscado in lime mortar are preserved. On its eastern side it conserves remains of the jambs of the access door.

Location

Located in the hill of the municipality of Moclín known as La Solana, at an altitude of 1,033 m.s.n.m.

State of conservation

It is kept in good condition, having been intervened by the City Council providing it with lighting and facilitating its access and observation.
